To celebrate Ferrari’s iconic GTO supercar, Pirelli has introduced the Cinturato P7, specially engineered for this model. Initially developed for rallying in the 1970s, the P7 became renowned for its ultra-low profile and grip on the road. Today, Pirelli has reimagined this legendary tyre with advanced materials, combining classic design with modern performance.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the Ferrari GTO, the updated P7 made its road debut during the GTO Legacy Tour 2024. This exclusive event, with a route from the Dolomites to Maranello, showcased the P7’s blend of vintage aesthetics and advanced technology, reinforcing Ferrari’s supercar legacy.
As part of the Pirelli Collezione range, these new P7 tyres provide an authentic experience for classic car enthusiasts. Available in original specifications (225/50 R16 at the front and 265/50 R16 at the rear), they balance timeless design with today’s safety and durability standards.
Pirelli’s Ongoing Collaboration with Ferrari Supercars
For decades, Pirelli and Ferrari have collaborated to elevate supercar performance. Starting with the Ferrari GTO, Pirelli’s custom tyres have enhanced Ferrari’s speed, handling, and control. The P Zero series, introduced on the Ferrari F40 in 1987, allowed it to reach over 300 kph. Following this, Ferrari’s F50 and Enzo models featured the P Zero Corsa System, delivering high-speed stability and track performance.
Recently, Pirelli’s P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 tyres were fitted on the LaFerrari and LaFerrari Aperta, drawing on motorsport technology to maintain Ferrari’s exceptional driving experience across generations.
The Pirelli Collezione: Classic Looks, Modern Performance
The Pirelli Collezione range is designed for iconic classic and modern classic cars, combining vintage aesthetics with advanced technology. The Cinturato P7, Pirelli’s first ultra-low-profile tyre, set new standards in grip and handling for road use. Today’s Collezione tyres, like the P Zero series, retain authentic styling but incorporate contemporary compounds for improved safety and performance.
Models like the Ferrari GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo benefit from Collezione’s authentic designs, allowing these supercars to handle as originally intended while using modern engineering to enhance reliability.
Pirelli and Ferrari: A Tradition of High-Performance Tyre Innovation
Pirelli and Ferrari’s longstanding partnership has driven tyre innovation in the supercar world. From the Cinturato P7’s rally heritage to the high-speed stability of the P Zero range, Pirelli has continually adapted racing insights to support Ferrari’s exceptional standards. Innovations from Formula 1 inspire the P Zero and Cinturato lines, enabling Ferrari’s fastest models, such as the F40 and LaFerrari, to achieve extreme speeds with maximum control.
This enduring collaboration reflects Pirelli and Ferrari’s shared commitment to creating tyres that define high-performance driving across generations.
