As one of Continental’s newest tyres, the Conti SportContact 7 was recently selected to be tested by popular tyre comparison website Tyre Reviews to be tested on the track. As an ultra ultra high performance tyre, it has highly improved stats as opposed to its predecessor which Continental claim make it one of their best tyres yet. Tipped to offer improved track performance by 10%, wet braking distances reduced by 8% and mileage increased by 17%, Tyre Reviews were keen to test the tyre on the proving grounds and see for themselves.
The test took place at Conti’s Contidrom facility in Buchholz, Germany where ten performance tyres were fitted to a BMW-powered Toyota Supra. The front tyres were size 255/35 R19 while the rear tyres were size 275/35 R19. The was a range of tyres tested, including the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport. Each tyre was tested on a range of aspects such as their handling, rolling resistance and subjective comfort as well as other important areas.
While the Conti SportContact 7 is at least 12 months newer than any other tyre in the test, it finished first place with comfortable margins in dry and wet braking and handling. This shows that, in the years since the release of the SportContact 6, Continental have been optimising their tyre technologies to go above and beyond. Speaking of the SportContact 7’s first independent assessment victory, Tyre Reviews claimed that the tyre sets “a new standard for the UUHP segment.” As well as this, they concluded that “with such an advantage in the wet, the new Continental Sport Contact 7 is a deserving test winner.”

With that being said, the Continental SportContact 7 is now available in the UK. To view our range, click here.
